Mumbai has long been one of the world\u2019s leading trading hubs and continues to play that role today, offering a strong environment for the next step in the company\u2019s development.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new subsidiary marks another milestone in the company\u2019s history. Melchers has been active in Asia since 1866 \u2013 and India is now being added as a dedicated location. There are already strong regional connections: Melchers has been successfully represented in Sri Lanka since over 40 years and employs more than one hundred people there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>EXPERIENCED TEAM FOR THE INDIAN MARKET<\/strong><br>Managing Director of Melchers India Private Ltd. will be Ulf Meyen. He brings many years of experience in India, has lived in the country for more than a decade and previously built up and managed the subsidiary of a leading German chemical company there. He has also supported various German companies in entering the market on the subcontinent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the ground, he will be supported by Mira Dalvi Sahni, who has been Resident Director for Melchers in India since June and manages organizational and commercial projects. Mira Dalvi Sahni brings extensive experience in supporting German companies with market entry and previously headed the Pune office and Training Centre of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, where she worked for almost 18 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>INDIA AS A STRATEGIC GROWTH MARKET<\/strong><br>\u201cThe tectonic shifts in global trade are currently opening up special economic prospects for and with India \u2013 especially for European SMEs. Developments such as the trade agreements between India and the European Union as well as between India and Switzerland underline the growing strategic importance of the market,\u201d says Anton Melchers, Managing Partner of C. Melchers GmbH &amp; Co. KG and responsible for the new location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of Melchers India Private Ltd. is to support European and international companies \u2013 including Asian companies \u2013 in developing the Indian market. Depending on the business model, Melchers acts as an agent, distributor, or joint venture partner. The initial focus will be on machinery and equipment, premium consumer goods and medical technology, while the company remains open to further industries. Existing sourcing activities shall be expanded.
