Strategic Cooperation: Melchers Group & Brüning Group

Melchers Group has announced a strategic partnership with Germany’s Brüning Group to advance China’s responsible timber market. The collaboration combines our established distribution channels and operational expertise in Greater China with Brüning’s internationally certified roundwood portfolio. Together, we aim to meet rising domestic demand for traceable, sustainable timber and contribute to the industry’s green transformation.

With our long-standing role in Sino-German trade, we bring extensive experience in commodity trading and supply chain integration. Our customer service infrastructure spans multiple industries across Greater China.

Brüning Group, recognised as a leader in sustainable forestry in Europe, offers a comprehensive range of roundwood products certified by FSC®, PEFC, and SBP. Their fully traceable processes, from afforestation to transport, ensure compliance with stringent environmental and social responsibility standards. These qualities make Brüning’s timber suitable for construction, furniture, and renewable energy applications.

Mr Maximilian Rehder, Project Director at Brüning Group, emphasised that entering China is a pivotal step in their global expansion, with Melchers providing the ideal platform to overcome market barriers and introduce diversified sustainable wood solutions.

Melchers’ role

Melchers will deliver tailored channel solutions for Brüning, including market development, customer engagement, logistics optimisation, and localised after-sales support across the Chinese market. Leveraging our brand influence, we will also promote the value of responsible timber to local clients, encouraging wider adoption of sustainable practices.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr Jörg Müller, Head of Melchers’ roundwood project in Greater China, highlighted the alignment with China’s “Dual Carbon” objectives. He noted that Brüning’s expertise in sustainable forestry complements Melchers’ strategy of combining local presence with partner empowerment.

This cooperation strengthens Melchers’ cross-border commodity portfolio and establishes a new bridge between Chinese and German forestry industries. Looking ahead, Melchers intends to continue integrating international resources with local services, enabling more premium global brands to enter China while supporting domestic industries in achieving higher sustainability standards.
