The Sparkasse Bremen and the Bremen-based company C. Melchers GmbH & Co. KG have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly invest in innovative, technology-based, and scalable business models from Germany. The aim is to support companies nationwide in entering new markets in the Asian region. “This is about both financial support and the provision of our know-how,” says Klaus Windheuser, Member of the Executive Board of Sparkasse Bremen.
International business is becoming increasingly important for medium-sized companies. At the same time, the framework conditions are becoming ever more complex. “Anyone looking to expand their business into Asia has to overcome many challenges,” emphasizes Ravoul Lal, Senior Corporate Client Advisor. Sparkasse Bremen provides support with its expertise in international business. “We have already accompanied many international expansions of German companies,” Lal adds.
Melchers is a globally active trading and services company headquartered in Bremen. Since 1866, Melchers has supported companies seeking to gain a foothold in Asia with a broad range of services: with a network of more than 50 subsidiaries in Germany and abroad, it covers services across the entire value chain – from sourcing and production to distribution and marketing, as well as after-sales services.
“Shared willingness to take risks is the cornerstone of a deepened entrepreneurial partnership,” emphasizes Nicolas C. S. Helms, Managing Partner of the Melchers Group. “With our broad network of experienced experts and our own infrastructure in Asia, we support our partners in almost all industries – and have been doing so for nearly 160 years,” Helms adds.
“With this joint venture, which is unique nationwide, two strong Bremen brands are joining forces,” says Windheuser. “We are sending a clear signal.” Sparkasse Bremen and Melchers are aiming for coordinated investments in the companies. “Interested companies can apply with immediate effect,” Lal announces in conclusion. If the business model is convincing, decisions will be made quickly and without bureaucratic hurdles. The investment will be made in equal parts by Sparkasse Bremen and Melchers. This means that rights will be acquired to the same extent.
